Griffin features a rich mix of historic homes, mid-century properties, and rural acreage where wood-burning fireplaces and masonry hearths remain central to home life. Many older properties throughout Spalding County boast deep chimneys designed for traditional open hearths, while rural and semi-rural lots often rely on wood stoves for supplemental winter warmth. The region experiences brisk winter nights that make burning seasoned hardwoods like oak and hickory a practical and comforting tradition for local families.
